Promoted by the Faep System, the series of Regional Meetings of Rural Leaders kicked off in Maringá on Tuesday, June 10, when 333 rural producers from 20 unions in the region participated in a program involving dynamics and lectures. The goal is to further strengthen the rural union system in Paraná.
The fifth edition of the event has the theme “Leadership, protagonism and transformation”. At the opening in Cidade Canção, the interim president of the Faep System, Ágide Eduardo Meneguette, highlighted the need to prepare new generations, producers and rural unions for the future, with the aim of facing the challenges imposed on the agricultural sector.
“This event aims to transform producers into leaders who make a difference through protagonism and transformation. And, over the years, we have been achieving this by strengthening all links in the rural union system,” Meneguette highlighted. “With this event, the FAEP System is transforming rural producers and, consequently, they are helping to develop the FAEP System and the rural union system,” he added.
Along the same lines, the president of the Nucleus of Rural Unions of Northwest Paraná (Nurespar) and the Rural Union of Mandaguaçu, Francisco Nascimento, reinforced the event as a mechanism to raise awareness among producers of the importance of the rural union.
“The FAEP System and the unions are the pillars of farmers, who take care of our representation. The rural union is the voice of the producer, the bridge that brings their needs to the debate. Therefore, the participation of each one is essential to strengthen each union”, he said. “This is a productive event, as it provides a moment to reflect and work in favor of agribusiness in Paraná”, highlighted the president of the Rural Union of Maringá, José Antonio Borghi.

To close the event, Leo Montesanto, who considers coffee a kind of religion, gave a lecture on innovative agricultural production and agribusiness management. The speaker told the story of the family business from the beginning – when his grandfather took over the company Café Três Corações – to the present day, sharing that he is involved in its management.
“My grandfather took over the management of Café Três Corações at the age of 53. For those who think it is too late to start, my grandfather is an example that there is no age to make a dream come true,” he said. “But from the beginning, my grandfather and my father were concerned with preparing the succession. This is essential for the continuity of the business in rural areas,” Montesanto emphasized.

After Maringá, the itinerary for the 5th edition of the Regional Meeting of Rural Leaders continues to Londrina (North), Jacarezinho (Pioneer North), Tapejara (Northwest), Campo Mourão (Central-East), Marechal Cândido Rondon (West), Pato Branco (Southwest), Guarapuava (Central-South), Prudentópolis (Central-South), Tibagi (Campos Gerais) and Araucária (Metropolitan Region of Curitiba).
