The formal job market in Maringá closed the month of April with the generation of 889 new job openings. The balance is the result of 9.492 admissions and 8.603 dismissals, according to data from Novo Caged released this Wednesday, May 28, by the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
All sectors ended April in the black in Cidade Canção. Services stood out, generating 362 new jobs with formal contracts. This was followed by commerce, with +236. Then comes construction (+171), industry (+113) and agriculture (+7).
With this result, the number of formal jobs created in 2025 (January to April) reaches 4.096 in Maringá. The number is the result of 40.389 hires and 36.293 layoffs. The monthly stock is 170.113.
Just like in April, the services sector was the driving force behind the Maringá employment market, creating 1.951 jobs in the year to date.
Another segment that stands out is industry, with 787 new jobs from January to April. Next, industry, +783; commerce (+564); and agriculture (+11).

Across the country, 257.528 jobs were created. The result is the fruit of 2.282.187 admissions and 2.024.659 dismissals during the period.
With this balance, the number of formal jobs created in 2025 (January to April) reaches 922.362. The total stock of formal employment contracts thus reaches a level of 48.124.423 workers with a formal employment contract. In the accumulated total for the last 12 months (from May 2024 to April 2025), the positive balance is 1.641.330 new formal jobs.
The Services sector was the main responsible for the generation of formal jobs in April, with the creation of 136.109 jobs, an increase of 0,58%. The highlight within the sector was the information, communication, financial, real estate, professional and administrative services activities, which together accounted for 52.446 new jobs.
Next, Commerce registered 48.040 jobs created (an increase of 0,45%), followed by Industry, with 35.068 jobs (0,39%), and Civil Construction, which generated 34.295 new jobs (1,16%). Agriculture also showed a positive balance, with 4.025 formal jobs (0,22%).
Among the states, São Paulo led the generation of formal jobs in April, with 72.283 new positions, followed by Minas Gerais, with 29.083, and Rio de Janeiro, with 20.031 jobs created. When considering the proportional variations in relation to the total number of jobs, the greatest growth was recorded in Espírito Santo (+0,93%), Goiás (+0,91%) and Piauí (+0,88%).
Salaries also showed growth in April. The real average hiring value was R$2.251,81, an increase of R$15,96 (+0,71%) compared to March 2025, when the value was R$2.235,85. Compared to April of the previous year, the real gain was R$6,62, representing an increase of 0,28%, after seasonal effects were discounted.
