With data updated in a monthly report from the Department of Rural Economy (Deral), of the Secretariat of Agriculture of the State of Paraná (Seab), Paraná's production of the second corn harvest 2024/25 should be 16,15 million tons, a volume slightly lower than the initial estimate, which was 16,51 million tons.
The area cultivated with corn in the second harvest was 2,72 million hectares, an increase of 7,4% compared to the previous cycle.
“Despite adverse weather conditions, especially during the development of the second harvest, the outlook is that, with the harvest progressing in the coming weeks, this will consolidate itself as the largest corn harvest in the history of Paraná,” says the bulletin prepared by Deral technicians.
According to the report, the first harvest already collected contributed around 3 million tons, and the total production of the two harvests should exceed the 18,1 million tons recorded in the historic 2016/17 harvest.
The sale of both corn crops is expected to generate more than R$16 billion in the Paraná economy.
